(CANC)
Mission Statement
The Cambodian American National Council is a US-based grassroots, non-profit,
non-governmental organization committed to provide professional services for
the promotion and support of leadership and development in the Cambodian communities,
within and without, the US.
CANC also functions as the focal point for coordination, information dissemination,
input, advocacy and provision of technical assistance for all Cambodians,
individuals and organizations, to enhance their capacity in the provision
of services to the Cambodian people and the reconstruction of their homeland.
Toward this end, CANC is committed to the following objectives:
1. Promotion and strengthening of communities and community-based organizations
2. Dissemination of information
3. Provision of forum for community input and involvement
4. Promotion of public education on domestic and international issues
salient to Cambodia and Cambodian communities
5. Development and promotion of projects and activities that contribute
to the rehabilitation, reconstruction and development of Cambodia
6. Promotion of the interests and welfare of the Cambodian people and
communities through advocacy
7. Strengthening of Cambodian communities and society through the preservation
of arts and cultures
To accomplish this mission, the Cambodian American National Council strives
to promote diversity of membership, engage in coalition building and coordination
among all Cambodians, individuals and organizations, and between the Cambodian
communities and mainstream groups, to achieve the highest level of quality
in our endeavors.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
The Cambodian American
National Council (CANC) is a coalition of Cambodian-American individuals
and organizations who work together to build the lives of Cambodian people.
Established in 1988,
CANC is a US-based grassroots, 501©(3) tax exempt non-profit organization
dedicated to promote and foster the sustainable development, growth, and prosperity
of the Cambodian community in the US and abroad, as well as the professional
and leadership development of all Cambodian individuals and organizations.
Over the years,
CANC has served as the focal point for the coordination, information gathering
and dissemination, advocacy, and provision of technical assistance for all
Cambodian individuals and organizations to enhance their capacity for the
advancement of the Cambodian people.
The Department of
Health and Human Services/Office of Refugee Resettlement, the US Agency for
International Development, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Rockefel
ler Foundation, the Emma Lazarus Fund, the Community Foundation , the National
Initiative for the Preservation of American Dance, along with many private
and corporate donors have supported the activities of CANC.
